…and faith unlocks the door.
Did your spouse make you angry in some way? Did he/she cheat on you? Perhaps things are going great, and you don’t think prayer is necessary because there’s nothing wrong in your relationship right now. Your spouse hasn’t been tempted to do anything unforgivable or unspeakable yet. Besides, isn’t prayer for those who are in need and are going through tough times?
No. You don’t have to pray only when you need something or when you need a situation changed. Daily prayer is for you. It is for your strength to grow closer to God and to pray that others grow closer to Him as well. If you did nothing else for your spouse today, praying for them is the highest honor.
Despite what your mate is doing now, has done in the past, or has not yet done…take a moment to pray for them to encourage, to uplift them, and to pray that they are never tempted to do things that will harm you or your family. You may even be emotionally mature enough to even pray that the actions of your spouse that harmed you in the past, are forgiven. Whatever the reason, whatever the outcome of your relationship or situation, you did your part by praying for them and releasing any negative feelings toward them out of your path.
If your relationship is not yet on the brink of divorce and things are going smoothly in your relationship, prayer is an even better way to get closer to your mate. Float on Cloud 9 with your spouse and grow even more intimate by praying together and praying for each other. Look past their eyes, deep beyond their faults, and pray for their soul, their peace, their wisdom, and their decision-making. Temptation to do the wrong things is easy to get into. It takes wisdom, self-control, and strength not to get into temptation. And it takes a great deal of prayer to forgive your mate if they yielded to that temptation…
The holy bible encourages us to confess our wrongdoings to each other and to continually pray for each other. Take the time today to do what is right in the eyes of God for you and your soul. That one gesture can possibly save a life–theirs.
James 5:16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
